Ito Hot Springs

The Ito hot springs are one of the three big hot springs towns in Japan together with Beppu and Atami. The abundant hot water flows at a pace of about 32,000 liters per minute (in a temperature range of 25。C to 68。C). This hot springs town boasts the greatest warm water discharge in the Kanto Region.The attractiveness of Ito hot springs is the abundant facilities and services the provide many ways to enjoy the hot springs.

There are approximately 700 facilities, such as Japanese style spa inns, resort hotels, guest houses, and resort inns, the provide spa relaxation.
There are lodging facilities to many any travel style from families to groups.

There are many old style mixed-gender baths in the city including eight unique mixed-gender baths associated with the Seven Deities of Good Fortune, allowing visitors to interact with local people or enjoy the traditional spa atmosphere.
There are also day travel spa facilities and hotels and Japanese inns within the city are expanding bathing services for day travelers.

The water quality of the hot springs is mostly simple thermal springs and slightly saline. Both types of water are low body irritation types and suitable for infants and the elderly.
The simple thermal springs are gentle on the skin. They are said to be effective for arthritis and stroke recovery, and for recovery after broken bones, external injuries, and illness.
The weak saline springs contain from 1 to 5 grams of sodium chloride per liter of spring water.
The spa ingredients envelope the skin to warm up the bather and are also called the “Netsunoyu,” because their heat holding effect promotes circulation.

They are said to be effective for chronic arthritis in the joints, cold hands and feet, bruises, sprains, external injuries, and burns. The water is colorless, odorless, and soft and the many famous spas amid an abundant natural setting are loved by literati and artists and many others.

 

Hot Spring Town of Flowers and Ocean-Ito

Located 120 km southeast of Tokyo. Ito is a resort tourism destination in a natural setting surrounded by mountains and ocean on the east coast of the Izu Peninsula located on the eastern edge off Shizuoka Prefecture.

These hot springs boast an abundant water flow with spring sources throughout the city that are used by many lodging facilities that welcome a great number of guests from Japan and abroad.

The lodging facilities range from pure Japanese style inns to modern resort hotels, and reasonably priced guest houses and resort inns can be selected from the approximately 700 facilities.

In addition, the Jogasaki enchanting scenic area and other locations along this dynamic seacoast are the home of parts and facilities that allow visitors to enjoy flowers year around and the full splendor of nature backed by the mountains and fronted by the sea no matter in what season you visit.

Throughout the city are located many monuments to the literature and poetry of the many literati and artists who loved the scenic Ito and a stroll to view these monuments is recommended.

The Izu Plateau district forms a cultural zone that is home to a collection of art and other museums, studios, and other cultural facilities that number over 50 in total.

The warm climate and clear air also make the area popular as a sports resort offering fishing, ocean swimming, diving, golf, and tennis among other attractions.

Ito City covers 124.13 square kilometers. The population as of January 2007 was approximately 75,000 people. This is the average size of Japanese cities, but the many attractions of Ito including spas, sports, art, literature, and scenery make it a resort area loved by many different people.
